Writers and scholars are invited to submit works that explore the frontier spirit of Texas. How do Texas writers embody an exploratory spirit as they write and create? How is the frontier spirit of Texas demonstrated in landscapes and mindscapes?
We welcome original creative writing as well as critical analyses that consider the frontier spirit of Texas as found in literature, drama, film, popular culture, music, dance, visual arts, and photography.
Reading/Presentation Time: 15 minutes maximum (around 8 pages). Scholarly submissions (never previously presented or published) may be complete papers or abstracts of 250-300 words. Poetry, fiction or creative non-fiction must be complete when submitted. Submissions will be judged by the TCEA Board through a blind review process.
